All Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Holder receive their visa 100%.They just need to submit proper documents.Students do need to submit a bank statement duing visa application but even 1 lac bdt for 1 day duration is enough

3 Stages of this Scholarship

Stage 1

This scholarship has 3 stages, the first is to getting accepted by your own country. Each country has different set of criteria to nominate their students. The Bangladeshi Government, for example, require us to apply to the stipendium hungaricum official website as well as Bangladeshi Government's scholarship website. They also require us to submit all the documents, along with the printed forms from those two websites, physically to the ministry of education Bangladesh. There are no minimum required GPA set by Bangladeshi government but having GPA 5 in SSC & HSC and having atleast 7 in IELTS along with some extra-curricular activities is the common profile to receive nomination from Bangladesh ministry. For Bangladeshi students check all the rules here. The government will publish detailed circular before the application begins in November 1st every year. The application period lasts till January 15th usually.

Stage 2

The selected students will be called for online tests and interviews by the 2 universities the applicants have choosen while submitting their application.Yes, you can select 2 different Programs.Either two different programs in same University or one each in two different universities.This stage is easy for those who have good knowledge of basics in their class 10 & 12.The universities will not make this stage difficult for you just because you are a Scholarship applicant.They will conduct the tests and interviews just the way they do for fee-paying student

Finak Stage

Finally the Hungarian government reviews all the applications of those students who passed the entrance tests and nominates the final set of students who will come to Hungary by winning the prestigious Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship.In my personal opinion,the Motivation Letter plays a big role in this stage

Application Process Step-by-Step

Research Programs & Universities

Explore the available programs on the Tempus Public Foundation website. Choose 2 programs that match your academic background and career goals.

Prepare Documents

Gather all required documents (see list below). This is the most time-consuming part, so start early.

Online Application

Complete the application on the Tempus Online Application system. You can select two different study programs.You might have to apply to your own country's website.check country specific rules.

Submit to Bangladeshi Authority

After online submission to stipendium's offcial website and Bangladesh Ministry's website, you must also submit hard copies of your application to the Ministry of Education in Bangladesh along with printed forms of stipendium's offcial website and Bangladesh Ministry's website that you already filled online. All documents need to be attested by a forst class gazetted officer in Bangladesh

Selection Process

The Hungarian side evaluates applications and universities conduct entrance exams or interviews if required.

Receive Notification

If selected, you'll receive a notification email and then need to prepare for visa application.

Motivation letter
Clearly explain why you chose the specific program , university and scholarship program
Proof of language proficiency (English/Hungarian)
Submit proof of language proficiency of your selected program's language.Any proof such as medium of instruction of precious studies wil work but Bangladeshi Ministry Prefers IELT(atleast 7 is usually what students who are selected has scored).
School certificates and transcripts
Notarized (from a first class gazetted officer) copies of SSC, HSC (for bachelors)
Medical certificate
There is a downloadable medical form pdf in the official stipedium website.Download that pdf,print it and show it to a doctor and ask him or her which tests do you need to take in order to fill up that form.Take those medical tests (usually a blood test and x-ray of your chest) and fill that form up after getting test result.Take that doctor's signature on that filled form.I did my test in Dhaka Community Hospital since I live in Moghbazar area and it costed my around 1-2k bdt only. Good news is that you can submit this form after getting nominated in stage 1. I submitted it along with all other documents but I know people who got this scholarship by submitting the medical test form later.

Since this scholarship is extreamly competitive,try to submit and show every little activities you did throughout your entire life.

Important Notes for Bangladeshi Applicants

1. Bangladeshi students must apply through the Ministry of Education in addition to the online application.

2. The scholarship quota for Bangladesh is typically around 100 seats annually.

3. Popular fields among Bangladeshi students: Pilot, Medical , Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration.

4. Previous academic performance is highly considered in the selection process.(GPA 5 is a must although they don't mention it

5. IELTS 7 is required although they do not mention it

5. All docs are needed to be attested by a first class gazetted officer

What is the application period for Stipendium Hungaricum?

The application period typically opens in first-November and closes in mid-January each year. Always check the official website for exact dates.

Is there an age limit for applicants?

For bachelor's programs, applicants generally should be under 25 years. For master's programs, under 35 years, and for PhD programs, under 40 years. However, these are not strict limits and exceptions can be made.Younger students are given priority ( specially in Bsc) but I have seen students getting selected with gap years.

What expenses does the scholarship cover?

The scholarship covers: full tuition fee, monthly stipend (43,700 HUF for BA/BSc, 140,000 HUF for PhD), accommodation or contribution to accommodation, and medical insurance.

Can I work while studying with this scholarship?

Yes, international students in Hungary can work up to 30 hours per week during semesters and full-time during vacation periods with a student visa.
