How the Process Works

The interview is the second stage of the scholarship. First is to get nominated by the sending partner (Sending partner means the countries the student will come from and initially apply to). You can check out the full process here.

If you are selected in stage 1, you will be emailed by the university about the date, time, process, and probably the syllabus as well for the interview.

The Interview is Standard

The interview is just like how a tuition-fee student takes it. There is nothing special for this scholarship. So, check the university website to see their interview process, they must have mentioned it there.

Some universities only take an exam, some only an interview, and some take both. For me, the University of Debrecen took both.

The content of the exam depends on your major, and that too will be mentioned on the university website or the email they send. For me, it was maths only as I applied for Computer Science. So if you don't get an email, check the university website first or email the university yourself; they are very nice and will reply soon.

Preparation Strategies

Research Your Program

Thoroughly review the program curriculum, course descriptions, and faculty profiles. Understand how it aligns with your goals.

Review Fundamentals

Brush up on key concepts from your previous studies that are relevant to your chosen program. Be prepared to discuss them.

Practice Questions

Prepare and practice answers to common interview questions. Focus on clear, concise responses that highlight your strengths.

Prepare Questions to Ask

Have 2-3 thoughtful questions ready to ask the interviewers about the program, university, or student life in Hungary.

Technical Requirements

  • Stable Internet Ensure you have a reliable internet connection with sufficient bandwidth for video conferencing.
  • Webcam Use a functional webcam with good resolution. Test it beforehand with the required platform.
  • Microphone Ensure clear audio quality. Consider using headphones with a built-in microphone to reduce echo.
  • Required Software Download and test any required software or platforms mentioned in your interview invitation.

Frequently Asked Questions

It completely depends on the university and your chosen program. Some programs only conduct an interview, others only a test, and some require both. The university will clarify this when they email you.

Your best option is to check the specific university's official website, as they usually list admission requirements there. If you can't find it, don't hesitate to email their admissions office directly—they are very helpful and respond quickly.

There is no universal passing score; it varies from university to university. For example, at the University of Debrecen, the passing threshold was around 56%, but always verify the criteria for your specific program.

Yes, definitely. As an international applicant applying from abroad, both your test and your interview will be conducted entirely online.

The difficulty level is standard and exactly the same as what regular tuition-fee-paying students take. There are no trick questions specially made for scholarship holders. If you study your fundamentals well, you will find it very manageable.
