What Makes a Scholarship CV Win?

Lead with Impact

Start with a powerful objective/summary that directly aligns with the scholarship's goals. Committees read hundreds — your first 3 lines decide everything.

GPA & Education First

For academic scholarships, education comes before work experience. Include GPA, rank, and Dean's List mentions.

Show Leadership & Volunteering

Scholarship bodies fund future leaders. Club president, community service — quantify impact (e.g. 'organised events for 200+ students').

Languages with CEFR Levels

European scholarships (Europass, Erasmus, SH) expect CEFR levels (A1–C2). Fluency in multiple languages boosts competitiveness.

Tailor to Each Scholarship

Use keywords from the scholarship's mission. A Stipendium Hungaricum CV should highlight EU/Hungary relevance; a DAAD CV should show research focus.

Always Export as PDF

Submit as a properly named PDF (e.g. Firstname_Lastname_CV.pdf) so formatting is preserved on any device.

Scholarship CV — FAQ

What should I include in a scholarship CV?
A winning scholarship CV should include: Personal info with photo (for European scholarships), a professional summary/objective, education history with GPA, work and volunteering experience, scholarships and awards, extracurricular activities, research or projects, language skills (with CEFR levels), digital skills, and references. Tailor every section to the specific scholarship's values.
Is a Europass CV format required for European scholarships?
Many European scholarships (Erasmus Mundus, Stipendium Hungaricum, DAAD) accept or prefer the Europass CV format. It is a standardized layout recognized across all EU institutions and is especially recommended for programs in Hungary, Italy, Germany, and Austria. Our builder includes a Europass-style template.
Should I include a photo on my scholarship CV?
For most European scholarship programs including Stipendium Hungaricum and Erasmus Mundus, a professional photo is expected and adds credibility. For US or UK scholarships (Chevening, Fulbright), photos are generally not included. Our builder lets you choose whether to show the photo.
How long should a scholarship CV be?
For undergraduate applicants, one page is ideal. For Master's or PhD applicants, two pages is the sweet spot. Academic CVs for research positions or PhD programs can extend to 3 pages. Our builder automatically formats your content to fit A4 cleanly.
